The Owensboro Amateur Radio Club has a new meeting location!

Starting in July, OARC will meet at the Owensboro Technical and Community College (OTCC) Downtown Campus at 1501 Frederica Street. While the club will continue to use the Red Cross building for VE testing and other events, we have outgrown the Red Cross meeting room, and needed a bigger space. The OTCC classrooms provide plenty of room for activities, plus excellent Audio/Video capabilities and internet access!

Please help get the word out that our July 18^th meeting will be at the OTCC downtown campus, in rooms 18A & B. The club meeting will start at the normal time, 7PM, with the ARES meeting at 6:30pm. Best parking is in the back of the OTCC building, accessable from West 15^th Steet or Daviess Street (across from Steinkamp lumber yard).

At the July meeting, we’ll have a Field Day wrap-up, then a tailgate swapfest in the parking lot. Dust off your old gear to sell, raid the piggybank for some folding money, and come out for a fun evening! You do not have to be a club member to come to meetings, or to sell/buy gear at the July swapfest!

Finally, a shout-out and huge thank you to Charles Hughes, AA4CH, for making all the arrangements for the club to meet at OTCC.

Field Day is coming up this weekend! It will be held at Panther Creek and will run from Saturday at 1 PM to Sunday at 1 PM. We can use help with the following–setting up Saturday morning and with logging and operating the radios any time during the event. All are welcome!

There will be a picnic at the end of the day Saturday at around 6. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided by the club. Bring a dish if you can. Sounds like a fun day!

We are missing the many posts that I’d made over the past several months. This is a mystery. Did they restore the site from a very old backup? Don’t know!

Owensboro Amateur Radio Club meeting for June is next week!!! We will meet at the American Red Cross building 1700 Frederica St., Owensboro June 20, 2023. (Use the side door.) All are welcome.

The ARES meeting will start at 6:30PM

The OARC meeting will start at 7:00PM

The next Owensboro Amateur Radio Club meeting will be held Tuesday August 16th at the American Red Cross building 1700 Frederica Street in Owensboro.

The ARES meeting starts at 6:30 and the OARC meeting will start at 7:00PM.

Field day 2022 will be at Panther Creek Park Owensboro 5160 Wayne Bridge Rd. Owensboro, KY 42301

Set up will start at 1:00PM Friday, June 24,2022

Operations will begin at 1:00PM Saturday, June 25,2022 and run until 1:00PM Sunday, June 26 at 1:00PM

Take down will start at 1:00PM Sunday, June 26.

The cookout will be at 5:30PM at the pavilion.

Please remember to bring your covered dish along with your drinks. Let me know what you plan to bring.  I’ll try to get a list sent out so we don’t have duplicates. You can text Alissa Troutman Club Secretary at 270-315-7330 the number of guests you will have along as what dish you will be bringing.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, plates, silverware and napkins will be provided by the club.

We really need a head count of how many people plan to attend so that we have food for everyone.  Please remember that you and your family are invited. You do not need to be a club member to attend Field Day.

We are in need of operators and loggers for all stations. Please text Jim Thompson at 270-314-2003 to let him know you are interested in operating a station or stations. You do not need to be a licensed operator to log. This is a 24 hour event so we do need all night operators as well. These are sheltered areas we are operating from.
